SpectreView

SpectreView is IPV’s globally-proven ‘shadow browse’ system, whereby an exact low bit-rate copy of the original high resolution video media is created and used in parallel with the original asset. Media ingested from SDI and file-based sources is intelligently encoded to add true usability and value to the asset, then served to multiple users within a powerful, efficient and scalable architecture, all whilst emulating true VTR performance at the desktop. This makes it ideal for use within newsroom, scheduling, automation, media asset management and subtitling or captioning environments.

SpectreView, comprising a suite of hardware and software products, is unique in embedding the relevant timecode data with guaranteed 1:1 correlation of the source material on a frame-by-frame basis. Low-resolution browse material is captured in WM9 VC-1 format to a browse server (SVServer) in real-time, using an IPV encoder or IPV transcoder which provides frame-accurate instant access at the desktop to live incoming material, and all the resulting benefits.

The resulting WM9 proxy material can then be browsed over an appropriate network, with all the features required to browse, edit material or review editorial content available as part of the SpectreView API toolkit, normally revealed as functionality within our OEM partner’s applications.

SVServer, IPV’s advanced streaming engine, provides advanced media streaming capabilities to the IPV client at the desktop, enabling large concurrent communities of users with VTR like performance at the desktop, with features such as true frame-accurate video/audio scrub, fast forward and rewind up to 64x, seek on timecode and shot-change indexing.

SpectreView is offered with a choice of two desktop clients. SVBrowse provides excellent desktop performance with full timeline capabilities and is API driven within a COM based environment. XStream is a web-based client, for both PC and Mac and is driven within a .NET environment.
